Youth Curling Coordinator

    General Description

    The Youth Curling Coordinator for the SFC Board of Directors (BOD) is charged with developing and organizing educational events for youth within Sioux Falls Curling and the community. The Youth Curling Coordinator serves as one of 9 to 13 active volunteer Directors, each of which is given responsibility for an aspect of overall club management. This position is a volunteer position without compensation.

    General board members are appointed for 3-year terms, but may be renewed indefinitely on an annual basis.


    As a general member of the BOD, the Youth Curling Coordinator will be a voting member of the board.


    • Organize and plan youth learn to curls, educational leagues, and other educational events.
    • Recruit volunteers to teach, mentor, and coach SFC youth curlers and new curlers from the community.
    • Ensure safety standards are being followed during youth events to minimize safety risks.
    • Compliance with all necessary trainings and qualifications as outlined by USA Curling and SFC.


    Though no experience is required, SFC will most benefit from a Youth Curling Coordinator who has experience working with children and adolescents. A background in teaching or mentoring others is also preferred.

    A successful Youth Curling Coordinator will also possess the following:

    • USCA Level I Curling Instructor Certification
    • Safesport certification to ensure volunteers are following safe practices during interactions with youth curlers.
