Vice President

    General Description

    The Vice President for the SFC Board of Directors (BOD) is charged with oversight for the stewardship of the organization’s personnel resources, with a focus on board recruitment and development. The Vice President serves as one of 9 to 13 active volunteer Directors, each of which is given responsibility for an aspect of overall club management. This position is a volunteer position without compensation.

    The Vice President serves as an Executive Officer for the BOD. All Executive Officers are appointed for 3-year terms, but may be renewed indefinitely on an annual basis.


    As an Executive Officer, the Vice President will be a general voting member of the board and will be a signatory for all SFC legal documents.


    Primary Responsibilities

    • Execute (or appropriately delegate and monitor) day-to-day organizational operations (meetings, events, communications) in the President’s absence.
    • Lead the organization’s efforts to recruit, train, and retain board membership.
    • Generate, maintain, and present reports for SFC BOD and general membership meetings.
    • Oversee SF Curling governance committee, ensuring bylaws and membership is updated as the organization progresses.
    • In collaboration with all Executive Officers, oversee and maintain financial budgets, to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • As a Director, the Vice President will participate in and provide support for SFC events and activities.
    • Compliance with all necessary trainings and qualifications as outlined by USA Curling and SFC.


    Though no experience is required, SFC will most benefit from a Vice President who has experience leading and building organizations, particularly nonprofit entities with tax exempt status. A professional background in civil service, community outreach, fundraising, business, or organizational leadership is preferred, though not required.

    A successful Vice President will also possess a working knowledge of MS Office, basic website development and design, and web-based communication tools; as well as the ability to work with and lead a diverse group of individuals on the Board of Directors and within the organization.
